Cardinales: Muestra cantidad, te muestra el cuanto de algo. (pesos, medidas, números de teléfono).

Números ordinales en inglés
Los números ordinales usan sufijos (nd,rd,st,th).los números ordinales indican posición: el primero, el segundo, el tercero, etc.
La regla general para formar los números ordinales en inglés consiste en añadir el sufijo 'th' al final del número ordinal, considerando también que puede haber cambios en la raíz de la palabra.Por ejemplo, quinto no es 'fiveth', sino 'fifth', ya que en este caso la fricativa labio-dental 'v', se convierte en 'f'. Para los números que acaban en 1, 2 y 3 (exceptuando los números 11, 12 y 13) acaban siempre en 'first', 'second' y 'third'.

ALGUNOS TIPS
- "Mil" se traduce como thousand, también como one thousand cuando va seguido de otro número:
- mil doscientos cuarenta
- 1,000 200 40
en frases enfáticas:
- te debo mil, no tres mil.
- I owe you one thousand, not three.
- De los números 1.100 al 1.900 es muy frecuente, especialmente en inglés americano, emplear eleven hundred (1.100), twelve hundred (1.200), eighteen hundred (1.800), etc

- A billion era equivalente a "un billón". Actualmente equivale a "mil millones". A trillion equivale a "un millón de millones" (= un billón).
- Como en español, la abreviatura de los números ordinales se forma con el número en cifra seguido por las últimas dos letras de la palabra completa:
- (primero) (1st)
- (segundo) (2nd)
- (tercero) (3rd)
- (vigésimo), etc. (20th)
- Así también en español.
En inglés se usa una coma o un espacio para marcar el millar. Ejemplo: 37 000 o 37,000. Nunca un punto.
- En cuanto a números como 100, 1,000, 1,000,000, etc. se pueden decir de dos maneras:
- one hundred (a hundred).
- one thousand (a thousand).
- one million (a million)
- A es (un o una) en inglés, pero tiene su regla para su uso. Son 2 de estas (An y A) es lo mismo, pero una es para vocales y la otra para todas las que no son vocales.
- No se pluralizan las palabras hundred, thousand o million cuando se trata de montos, por ejemplo:
- No decimos US$ 4 millions de dolares sino US$ 4 million of dollars.
- En cambio,si podemos hablar de "millions" of birds, "millions" of children, mientras se charla etc.
- 0 (cero) se pronuncia nought, zero, nothing, oh (óu) dependiendo de las expresiones.
- Contar de dos en dos se dice count by twos.
- Contar de tres en tres, count by threes.
